Shade Tree Sign Project

This was a very interesting project sprung upon me by my boss that I was able to turn around within a few days. Instructions were provided to me via a Microsoft Teams call where I was sharing my screen with my boss as he directed the vision. These signs were supposedly to be for an Airbnb out in Virginia.

To create these signs we began by providing the client with several different sign shapes to pick from and then they provided us with that tree you see on the finished sign except it was just a solid object with black fill. I duplicated the object and clipped out the leaves from the tree so I could have 2 seperate colors to work with, and I ended up applying a gradient to the leaves to add a little depth. I didn't want to risk getting too complex for an accelerated project like this one.

The hole placement was another specification to iron out with the client. You can see the hole placement on the rectangle signs up above notated in pink, and you can see the finished product of all signs hole placement down below, the main "Shade Tree Cottage" sign was a little more technical as it's holes had to match up with it's counterpart to be strung together. We printed this on E-Panel material which is a type of rigid aluminum material in which it was also routed out on the plotter.

I really appreciated the chance to see a project I had designed fully produced and ready to be shipped out. Most of the work I do like this I never get to see once it's left my desk, and I do think it's a treat when you do get to see your work out in public somewhere. I will be sure to report back if I ever am able to acquire a photo of this sign in the wild, but Arizona is a long way from Virginia.
